Hey, do you like our new photo? This is the Pink Ladies mark 2. We're all looking so cheery and rosy-cheeked because we were just beginning the last leg of our first 20 mile training walk around Otmoor. It could also have something to do with a very enjoyable stop-off at the pub in Beckley.
By the way, the new face is Milena - a welcome addition to the troupe.
The 20 mile walk actually turned out to be fine. We were all hobbling yesterday evening but seem to be okay today. In the words of our team leader (Kim) - we're gonna rock this walk!

the changing faces of the pink ladies

Well, it's not altogether surprising - one of us was bound to see sense at some point; Julia (unfortunately for us) has had to drop out of Trailwalker. It is really very sad because I for one, was looking forward to putting the world to rights with her for 30 hours in July and would have enjoyed her company.
But never fear for a replacement was quickly found - there are nutters all over the place really - Milena has joined the team.
So we are 4 again and are now full steam ahead and sort of thinking about doing some training.

The carol singers in action. This was our first fundraising event - we sang at the Wolvercote Farmers' Market and amazingly raised £41. Not bad. Thanks to the husbands for singing/coffee supplying and child coralling services.

First Steps

Yesterday Kim and Shona walked for miles and miles. We had a very agreable morning although soggy at times. We lunched in a derelict barn full of dirty baths and disused animal cages - you wouldn't want to be there in the dark. Walked through Wytham woods and along the Thames Path back to Wolvercote. Happily, our feet survived unscathed so really, 100k should be a breeze...

Now we are 4...

Good news today. Linda has lost all sense of reality and has agreed to join us on our adventure. The Pink Ladies are now complete and ready for business.

TRAILWALKER 2008

Trailwalker is a 100 km trek for teams of four ( our 4th member is still rather elusive but we're working on that) over 30 hours. The route mostly follows the South Downs Way and finishes in Brighton.

Trailwalker is our chance to achieve something amazing. Do we have what it takes? Together, we have. It's all about working as a team and pushing our physical and mental strength to their limits. Not only that, we might get fit.

And of course, the money we raise will go to Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust - two organisations whose shared goal is to help people out of poverty.

Our journey to Brighton begins here. Please support us by donating at www.justgiving.com/thepinkladiestrailwalkers and by coming back to visit our blog.

Thanks,
The Pink Ladies
